THING #9 STORIES OF COMMUNITY- Self Taught Art from the Hill Collection

On itunesU I found a podcast on from the Florida State Board of Education called Stories Of Community- Self Taught Art from the Hill Collection. The video shows works of art from regional artists who had no formal training in the arts. It would be a good podcast to show students and lead a discussion and have students generate ideas on what types of community art you might find in our region. Students may give examples of artists or pieces that they have seen. They could search digital resources for examples of regional art. They could also compare and contrast the styles of art created in the two regions and then even possibly create an original piece.
